Day 20 of 30 days of biking has been one of the most enjoyable yet. In part, this is due to the gorgeous spring-like weather that we’re finally experiencing, but it’s more to do with the fact that Day 20 has been a day for making new cycling friends.
For a little while now I’ve been looking for some like-minded female cycling buddies. It’s great going riding with the Mr and sometimes his friends, but I’ve always liked the idea of a nice social ride with ‘the girls’. Well, today that happened! Thanks to the wonders of social media, I arranged with Lara, editor of the super new magazine Women’s Cycling, and her friend Charlotte, to get together at the Forest of Dean. And what a fab time we had!
We met at the cycle centre at Cannop, greeted by brilliant sunshine and a very full car park. It was great to see so many people out and about on their bikes, enjoying the good weather. We started the only way we knew how: with a cuppa! I tested the cake offering and can now confirm that the chocolate brownies were in fact lovely. Then we started pedaling, opting for a non-marked trail to avoid the crowds on the Verderer’s.
It was a really lovely ride: sunshine, great views and plenty of chat! I have no idea where we went or how far it was, but we were out for a couple of hours and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks to Lara and Charlotte for a really brilliant day.
I carelessly failed to take any photos at all today, so you’ll just have to imagine a pic of three happy cyclists enjoying a gorgeous sunny ride!
