Support your local bike shop: Independent Bike Co.

I am a firm believer in shopping local, in supporting independent businesses and in doffing my cap to those who are brave enough to set out on their own to make something great happen.

So, when I heard that Nathan Carr – formerly of Bad Ass Bikes fame – was planning to set up a new bike shop in Weston-super-Mare, I was really excited. Independent Bike Co. opened today, so of course I popped in for a quick hello.

The shop is looking really smart (something that makes it stand out from the crowd in Weston!) and I was greeted by a big friendly smile as I walked in. Whilst Nathan’s still getting his stock sorted, there were already signs of the good things that are to come. For starters, he’s stocking Saracen bikes, which we all know I love. And I was pleased to see some women’s Madison kit too.

Independent Bike Co. has a very smart looking workshop, where Nathan will be able to build some beautiful bikes and carry out services. I know he’s more than capable of this too, as he’s been looking after ours for a good few years.

It’s safe to say I think the opening of this shop is an exciting development for Weston, and I’m looking forward to being a part of its journey to success; I’m sure I’ll spend more than a few pennies in there over the coming months and years!

Here’s a little pic of Nathan, looking chuffed with the fact that the shop is finally open:
